With the growing attempts to stifle any public expression of Christanity, including the revoval of the Ten Commandments from many public places, the great fuss over the introduction of the concept of Intelligent Design, and the many other things you’ve probably heard of lately, I am beginning to wonder….
How long will it be before the individuals at the ACLU, and the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State decide to aim their big guns at the Declaration of Independence?
Allow me to quote from the ephemeral document:
“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.” (Emphasis of course my own)
And again:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. “
And finally:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
Shocking! How dare the founding fathers make such an unconstitutional statement!? They speak of a God of Nature, a Creator, and Divine Providence!! Such talk must not be tolerated!
Of course, they very idea of calling the Declaration unconstitutional seems ludicrous. But when we have imbecelles (I do not say this lightly) such as Chief Justice Souter in office, making statements to the effect that “… the founding fathers didn’t understand the constitution”, you have to wonder…
Here’s to hoping it will not happen within my lifetime. May God see it fit to bring about a revival in America instead. May God save America – not America as I know it to be, but America as it ought to be.
